Public Transport Victoria (PTV) has revealed its "significant change" in layout for Ballarat’s bus network.

As part of the plan, PTV has opened a dialogue of sorts with the public, asking for feedback on the proposal from Ballarat residents.

PTV hopes to improve services by increasing the frequency of buses, coordinating schedules with train times, and creating more direct routes.

Part of this includes all buses operating via Ballarat Station, "Better services for new housing developments at Alfredton and Brown Hill", and a new route numbering system for all of regional Victoria.

Key locations for the new network are listed by PTV as:

·Ballarat Railway Station

·Ballarat CBD including Sturt Street Strip

·Central Square Shopping Centre

·Ballarat Base Hospital

·Federation University, Mount Helen Campus

·Wendouree Shopping Centre

·Creswick Town Centre

PTV says it’s going to upgrade the network to make Ballarat a ‘10-minute-city’.

Some locals have already given feedback on the proposal, according to PTV.

PTV quotes one resident as saying "good coverage – makes sense", while another reportedly says "I like the Brown Hill extension!!! I will use it on weekends for leisure purposes!"

The survey is still active on PTV’s website, allowing users to give feedback on a couple of the planned changes to Ballarat’s bus network.

PTV says the changes will be implemented in early-to-mid 2017.
