New South Wales cyclists will soon have access to an Opal activated bike shed in Parramatta

Cyclists in Parramatta will soon have access to 50 extra secure spaces, following the announcement of the construction of a new Opal activated bike shed.

Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee says the use of the bike sheds will be free for cyclists and can be accessed using their Opal cards.

“This bike shed is a great win for Parramatta cyclists who catch public transport as part of their daily commute,” Lee says.

“All customers need to do is link their Opal card through the bike lockers website and they’ll have access to any of the other bike sheds we introduce in the future as well.”

These facilities are part of the Bike and Ride initiative, which is identified in Sydney’s Cycling Future, Transport for NSW’s plan to make bicycle riding a feasible transport option and will be delivered as a part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program.

“These bike sheds are another great addition to the cycling infrastructure in Parramatta,” says Lee.

In partnership with Council, we are also building fantastic bike paths that will link up Parramatta River, the CBD and beyond – Parramatta will be the top cycling city in NSW before too long.”
