Sydney’s newest suburb Gledswood Hills get its first public transport connection this week
Bus users in South-west Sydney embraced a brand new bus route to service Gledswood Hills and Willowdale Estate, as the bus picked up its first passengers this week.
Route 841 is the latest addition and should help meet increased demand for customers travelling to and from Narellan and Leppington.
“Sydney’s rapidly growing South West is experiencing an influx of new families, with new suburbs springing up at an amazing pace,” New South Wales (NSW) minister for transport and infrastructure Andrew Constance says.
“Now we’re putting in the first vital connections for those commuting from Sydney’s newest suburbs.
“This new route will add 190 services per week, providing a much-needed service for the new residential estates along Camden Valley Way.”
NSW Government member for Camden Chris Patterson says it’s vital that good public transport options are in place as south west Sydney continues to grow.
“As development progresses in the south west it’s important we are prepared for continued growth in this area,” he says.
“With the South West Rail Link already in operation and four new buses for the area, we can ensure current and future demand is catered for.”
Route 841 services will operate every 30 minutes during the morning and afternoon peak periods and every hour during the day on weekdays from Narellan to Leppington.
The 190 extra weekly services on new route 841 will be the first bus services to operate in Gledswood Hills and Willowdale Estate.
The NSW Government has introduced more than 14,800 extra weekly public transport services state-wide since early 2011.
