Head of Public Transport Victoria moves on just shy of the two year mark
Public Transport Victoria (PTV) chief executive Mark Wild formally resigned this week after almost two years in the job.
The news follows the resignation of PTV chairman Ian Dobbs earlier this year.
Wild is proud of what he has achieved and is looking forward to his next challenge, as special advisor for transport with the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR).
“Since PTV came into existence three years ago, a number of authorities have been created, with Melbourne Metro Rail Authority, Level Crossing Removal Authority and Infrastructure Victoria working together to create an integrated transport network,” he says.
“I’m passionate about public transport and, having previously been director of projects at PTV, my new role will allow me to contribute to the delivery of major government commitments, while using my experience as CEO to shape the best outcomes for passengers.”
Things are changing at PTV and Wild feels the timing is right.
“PTV is about to embark on a new chapter in its journey with a new board in place and chair, Patricia Faulkner, taking up her role in coming weeks,” Wild says.
“I believe that this is the right time for the board to appoint a new CEO to take PTV through to the next phase.
“Leading Victoria’s public transport network through a time of change has been the most rewarding experience of my career so far.”
Wild is particularly pleased with the transformation of PTV into a customer-focused organisation, driving improvements in performance and reliability by operators on all modes of public transport and delivering timetable improvements and network upgrades.
“For me, personally, I’m pleased to have been able to champion accessibility across the network,” Wild says.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with a talented and dedicated team at PTV and I know they will deliver on the strong standards established for our public transport system.
“I genuinely believe that PTV is delivering services that Victorians value and choose to use, by travelling every day in the shoes of our customers and constantly putting their needs and expectations first.”
Victorian minster for public transport Jacinta Allan wants to thanks Wild for his passion and substantial contribution to public transport in Victoria over many years.
“I have worked closely with Mark over the past nine months on the Andrews Labor Government’s huge public transport agenda, including Melbourne Metro Rail Project, 50 level crossing removals and new trains and trams for Victoria,” she says.
“Mark’s extensive experience and outstanding technical knowledge has been valuable in developing these critical projects.”
Former VicRoads chief executive and current PTV lead deputy secretary of transport Gary Liddle will act as interim chief executive of PTV, until a permanent replacement for Wild is found.
