New board members at Public Transport Victoria take the helm with promise of a bus focus

Public transport Victoria (PTV) has a four new faces on its new-look board of directors and one with expertise in the operation of bus networks.

The appointment of new director Kevin Norriscomes after a commitment by the newly elected Victorian Government to appoint a representative with expertise in the bus network to the PTV board of directors, to allow for more of a bus focus form the top down.

Victorian minister for public transport Jacinta Allan introduced new board members for three major public transport organisations, including Patricia Faulkner as the new chairperson of Public Transport Victoria and Jenny Dawson as chairperson of V/Line late last week.

“We would like to acknowledge outgoing Chairs Ian Dobbs and Hector McKenzie, who have provided strong leadership during their terms and look forward to working with new appointees to oversee the delivery of the Government’s unprecedented transport infrastructure program,” Allan says.

New PTV chairperson Faulkner has extensive experience in governance roles, as the former secretary of the Victorian Department of Human Services.

She is a partner of tax consultancy firm KPMG and as a trustee and director of a Victorian Government superannuation fund.

Dawson meanwhile, served 15 years as a director of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and is currently chairperson of Sandhurst Trustees.

She also has considerable experience in regional development strategy and planning from her 13 years on regional development policy and management committees at a federal, state and local level.

Others joining the PTV board include deputy chairperson Doug Bartley, director Virginia Hickey and community representative Tom Sargant.
