New app for NSW

Transport for NSW has helped develop a new app to allow users to find public transport routes

A new real-time road app which will help customers plan their journeys by providing information on travel times, congestion, hazards and road incidents in New South Wales has been launched.

Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime Services have been working with app developers since September 2014 to create five new real-time apps that help road users plan trips and avoid traffic as they’re getting from A-to-B.

These apps put traffic information at customers’ fingertips so they know exactly what’s going on along their planned travel route and what they should do to avoid congestion and delays before they begin their journey.

Each app has different features so customers can find the app that’s best for them.

TripGo is for customers who want to find the most efficient journey from A-to-B using road and public transport options and designs smart itineraries around information on home, work and calendar events.

Other apps which have been developed are Snarl, Auto, Plan A and EasyDrop.

In last year’s ‘Hackathon’, developers with the best and most inventive ideas were picked to work with Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime Services to develop innovative real-time road apps.

Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime Services will continue to work with the developers and more real-time road apps will be released in the future.

The apps are designed as planning tools and once the apps have started they are hands-free and do not require any interaction while driving.
