Public transport to zoo

Go Wellington and Wellington Zoo are offering half price entry to people who use buses

People using a Go Wellington bus to travel to Wellington Zoo this month will pay half the entry price.

Go Wellington’s focus over the past year has been working with Wellington Zoo by sponsoring charter trips for lower decile schools.

This allows children, teachers and caregivers to visit the Zoo and take part in the Warehouse Zoofari programme.

Now the generosity of the two institutions has been extended to the wider public.

NZ Bus CEO Zane Fulljames says: “our role is to connect our communities, that can mean taking a trip somewhere or working in partnership with other organisations to connect the public with our city’s sights and activities”.

In-line with the Zoo’s commitment to sustainability as a business and attraction, public transport is seen as the appropriate means of travel to the Zoo.

Wellington Zoo General Manager Community Engagement Amy Hughes says conservation and sustainability are at the heart of everything at Wellington Zoo.

“Taking public transport is an easy way for our visitors to have a positive impact on the local environment – and we’re rewarding them with half-price admission to the Zoo.”

Wellington Zoo is one of our city’s most popular public transport destinations as private car parking options are limited.

Go Wellington runs buses to the Zoo each day on routes 10 and 23 which stop immediately outside the Zoo.
