Queensland award for Volvo

Bus Industry takes out major awards at this year’s Queensland Training Awards

Volvo Commercial Vehicles has been named Employer of the Year at the Queensland Training Awards.

The awards are the state’s highest recognition of people and organisations who strive for success, best practice and innovation in training.

The ceremony was held in mid-September at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre with nearly 800 people in attendance.

Volvo was Employer of the Year in the Metropolitan region, progressed through to the State Final and took out the Queensland Employer of the Year Award.

As the winner of the Employer of the Year category, Volvo Group Australia showed a demonstrated commitment to quality training, forming an integral part of its business planning and operations.

The category was also judged on the level of innovation, excellence and equity in the applications of the nominees.

Volvo Brisbane Region Dealer Principal Iain Allison says keeping staff up–to-date with the latest technology allows Volvo to provide the best service to our customers while providing the best opportunities for employees.

“Employees feel challenged and gain a sense of achievement,” he says.

“At Volvo we promote career progression and if the employee is willing to improve their skills they have the opportunity to further their career within the company to a management level that may lead to an overseas assignment.”

Transdev Queensland (TDQ) was also a finalist in the Employer of the Year, after taking out the Employer of the Year in the South East regional final.

Ashleigh Taylor, of Greyhound Australia is studying Certificate III in Business Administration and won the Bob Marshman Trainee of the Year award.
