Bus and bike for ACT

Commuters in Australian Capital Territory are being encouraged to cycle and then catch a bus

Canberra commuters are being encouraged to cycle to catch a bus on commutes as the seasonal change brings warmer weather.

A statement released by territory operator Action encourages people to try Bike & Ride as the weather warms up.

There are over 30 free Bike & Ride facilities in in the city, so commuters can cycle part of the journey and catch the bus for the rest.

Secure bike cages, bike lockers and bike racks are located on the rapid bus routes.

Bike cages require a MyWay card to be activated for access to your chosen cage, and bike lockers requests are subject to availability.

People can find out which buses have bike racks using NXTBUS via SMS, web and the display screens at key bus stops and stations.

"Bike and Ride is a greener, easy, environmentally friendly and healthy way to combine a bike ride with a bus ride to travel around the city," reads the statement.
