Opal for Manly Wharf buses

Manly Wharf Express buses, which have been free for the last year, will soon have Opal capability

New South Wales’ Opal card will go live on the Manly Wharf Express buses in eight weeks after a 12 month free travel promotion.

Customers with an Opal card have been able to ride for free on the four express routes to encourage more people to sign up to Opal and use the services to travel to Manly Wharf since September last year.

"Customers are now embracing Opal with more than 880,000 cards issued, and it is now available on all Sydney Ferries services, all Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Intercity services and more than 3,200 buses," a Transport for NSW spokesman says.

"Opal will be on 5,000 buses across Sydney and the regions by the end of the year and light rail in early 2015.

"If you choose to take public transport instead of driving to a meeting or appointment during the day early in the week, you could reach your weekly free travel reward sooner."

Opal will go live on Manly Wharf Express routes E32, E35, E36 and E41 on Thursday 20 November.
