New owner for Skybus, Melbourne

OP Trust speaks exclusively on their recent acquisition of Melbourne operator Skybus

Melbourne’ operator Skybus has been sold to a consortium led by OP Trust but it will be business as usual – with a few improvements.

Skybus operates route services from Melbourne City to the airport.

OP Trust is a Canadian-based company which invests and manages funds, and has infrastructure investment all over the world.

OP Trust Managing Director Stan Kolenc says the company has a number of investments in Australia already, and Skybus is an opportunity to expand their portfolio.

“We liked Skybus because we understand the airport space very well,” he says.

“We just really liked the business – it’s got a great brand and a great position.”

Kolenc says the consortium now owns Skybus, but Managing Director Simon Cowen will also hold some investment in the company.

“We’re not looking to change the business in any major way,” says Kolenc.

“We want to continue to grow its market share and improve the services.

“Everyone seems very happy with it.”
