Melbourne commuters more satisfied - survey

Recently released statistics show Melbourne commuters are becoming more satisfied with services

Melbourne public transport users are becoming increasingly satisfied with public transport, according to recently released statistics.

Minister for Public Transport Terry Mulder says the latest customer satisfaction monitor showed passengers using the city’s public transport continued to be more satisfied than 2010.

"Satisfaction with personal security was 69.6 per cent for the June quarter compared with 60.1 per cent in the June quarter of 2010, a ringing endorsement of our policy to deploy Protective Services Officers at stations to deter crime and make them safer for everyone," he says.

Metro bus reported 76.2 per cent metropolitan public transport customer satisfaction for April to June 2014, compared to 72.5 per cent for the same period in 2010.

This is a 3.7 per cent increase in overall satisfaction over the four year period.

In other modes, 85.6 per cent of Yarra Trams’ trips were on time, close to record punctuality and 3.5 percentage points higher than in August 2010.

V/Line improved on its 12 month average of 87.7 per cent of trains on time, with 89.9 per cent on time in August.
