New NHVR CEO

The NHVR has announced Sal Petroccitto as the new Chief Executive Officer

The Board of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has announced the appointment of Sal Petroccitto as Chief Executive Officer.

Petroccitto replaces Richard Hancock who resigned earlier this year due to family and personal health reasons.

Petroccitto joins the NHVR from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, bringing extensive knowledge of heavy vehicle regulation to this challenging role.

He has been responsible for the development of key strategic policies and strategy for the state’s transport system and has overall coordination of the state’s multi-modal freight policy agenda.

He has worked closely with industry and stakeholders to deliver an efficient and effective transport system and improved supply chain outcomes.

Petrocitto is currently the Queensland Government representative on the NHVR Project Implementation Board and the Board of Transport Certification Australia, and has built strong working relationships with industry and government across Australia’s rail, ports and freight industries.

It is expected that Petroccitto will commence as NHVR CEO on May 19.

The Board wishes to thank the current Acting Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer Melinda Bailey for her leadership of the NHVR during the past few months.
