Bus advertising for Darwin

Darwin buses will soon be sporting mobile billboards

Darwin businesses will soon be able to advertise on buses after a major advertising company enters a deal with the Northern Territory Department of Transport.

Go Transit Media Group advertising has secured the contract which covers nearly 150 urban and school bus routes.

Go Transit Head of National Sales Paula Hay says the deal provides national advertising clients with a unique opportunity to reach a potential audience.

“There is no real form of large transit outdoor advertising available in Darwin so we can provide the opportunity to promote businesses and services in the form of a large mobile billboard on a daily basis,” she says.

“In almost all of the 85 markets we operate in we compete with large outdoor, bus stops and other forms of advertising on street furniture. There is very few of these options available in Darwin, therefore large transit advertising becomes a significant point of difference for advertisers.”

Minister for Transport Peter Styles says the new opportunity will allow local companies and small businesses to reach a potential audience of more than 120,000 people.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Territory businesses to access a mobile and very visible advertising medium that has not been available previously,” he says.

“Dependent on the popularity of advertising on buses in Darwin, this type of advertising may be explored further in Alice Springs.”

Go Transit’s Darwin contract will commence on March 1 with advertising on buses to appear by mid-April.

The period of the contract will initially be three years with a two year extension option.
