Buses replace trains

Buses will replace trains in Perth this weekend as work on the City Link project continues

October 11, 2013

Buses will replace trains in Perth this weekend, to enable work to continue as part of the City Link project.

Services on the Fremantle, Midland, Thornlie and Armadale Lines will be impacted by the work from tonight.

At the same time, the Mandurah Line will be closed between Rockingham and Mandurah to allow work to take place at Karnup.

Public Transport Authority spokesperson David Hynes says they have a well-rehearsed replacement bus operation which operated very efficiently during the major shutdowns in July and August.

“In some cases you will need to allow extra time to get to their destination so I urge all passengers to check the Transperth website or contact the Transperth InfoLine for more information.”

The station will close tonight with services returning to normal first thing on Monday.

“The bulk of this work is related to the Perth City Link project and will allow us to commission Platform 6 at Perth Station,” he says.

“The work on the overhead lines which deliver power to our trains is very complex, so we need the whole weekend to ensure it’s done properly.”
