The Australian arm of a Brazilian company will launch a new product at the Australian Bus & Coach Show 2013 next month

September 18, 2013

A Brazilian company has announced it will open an Australian branch of the company at the Australian Bus & Coach Show 2013 in Sydney later this month.

Marcopolo Australia has been formed to expand its presence in Australia and help meet the needs of transport operators in the country, according to Marcopolo SA Chief Executive Officer Jose Rubens de la Rosa.

The company bought a 75 per cent stake in Volgren last year, but the two companies will operate separately to one another.

Gabriel Tesser has been appointed General Manager and will be responsible for conducting all activities of the company.

“For us, the formation of Marcopolo Australia is an important step because it means that we will be selling our bus brands in one of the most advanced and demanding world markets,” says Tesser.

“Our intent and perspective is to provide buses, highly competitive in technology, quality, robustness and operating costs, and establish the Marcopolo brand as leader in Australia.”

The first official product launch of Marcopolo Australia – an Audace school and charter bus – will be on display during the show on September 25 and 26.

“We will begin operation by marketing models developed by our engineering team in Brazil, customised to the Australian market,” says Tesser.

“This brings the technology, experience and expertise of a global leader in the production of buses that has already surpassed 360,000 units manufactured in 64 years of history.”
