Queensland MP Steve Davies has talked up Capalaba’s new park ‘n’ ride, with
more than 600 customers reportedly boarding the facility each week.

In a Translink statement, the Member for Capalaba says the number of commuters catching buses from the new park ‘n’ ride has been growing steadily since it opened in early March.

“It is pleasing to see Redlands commuters have readily embraced this new facility and are getting on board the park ‘n’ ride philosophy,” Davies says.

According to Davies, the number of customers catching route 251 – Ormiston to Brisbane via Alexandra Hills – from the park ‘n’ ride has grown 13 percent in the three months since opening in mid-March.

Davies says Capalaba park ‘n’ ride has 204 car parking spaces, two bus platforms, and security features.

“The early take-up is a great indication of the local community’s commitment to public transport, however commuters are reminded there are still car parks available,” he says.

“Each full bus takes up to 40 cars off the road, which is great for the environment.

“Customers for local bus routes can continue to transfer at the Capalaba bus interchange, near Capalaba Park shopping centre, which is about 400 metres walk from the new park ‘n’ ride.”

The new park ‘n’ ride is at the corner of Moreton Bay and Redland Bay roads.
