Volvo Bus Australia has appointed a bus industry newcomer as the company’s new general manager

Volvo Bus Australia has appointed Sean Copeland as the company’s new general manager despite his lack of previous
bus industry
experience.

Copeland has worked with Spotless, Crown Forklifts and Honeywell during his career, but hasn’t worked in the bus sector.

Copeland replaces David Mead, who had been acting General Manager and will now focus on directing Volvo Bus Asia Pacific.

Mead says Copeland will bring a fresh outlook and a wealth of management experience.

“Sean’s diverse experience, having spent time with Spotless, Crown Forklifts and Honeywell during his career, will be a beneficial asset to the Volvo Bus team,” Mead says.

“His experience in government tendering and partnership management combined with his skills in aftermarket and customer satisfaction will serve him well in the bus market.”

Mead says Copeland’s focus on developing culture through teamwork and individual success is consistent with values at Volvo Bus.

Copeland says teamwork generates success and it’s important to foster talent through mentoring and coaching.

“The experiences I have gained working in a number of different industries and high-profile corporations give me the ability to take on new challenges and look at them from different perspectives,” Copeland says.

Copeland says the company’s future opportunities lie in identifying further areas of growth in the area of aftersales.

“Taking advantage of the strong base built in Australia over recent years along with a renewed focus on our complete offer of products and services, the long term focus of Volvo Bus is to continue to develop our dealerships and their staff, whilst ensuring continual high levels of customer satisfaction,” Copeland says.

Copeland started in the general management role last month.
