Second round of NSW contracts tendered

The NSW Government has announced the second major round of tendering for metropolitan bus contracts

March 18, 2013

The New South Wales Government announced the second major round of tendering for metropolitan bus contracts last week.

The four contract regions in the second tendering round include services to Liverpool, Glenfield, Ingleburn, Bringelly, Hoxton Park, Blacktown, Rouse Hill, Castle Hill, Dural, Parramatta, Lakemba Mortdale, Punchbowl, Roselands, Campbelltown, Narellan and Camden.

NSW Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian says the competitive tendering process allows companies of any size to bid for contracts, provided they have the skills, experience and customer focus required.

According
Berejiklian, the first round of competitive tendering for four Sydney metropolitan bus contracts last year led to annual savings for taxpayers of
about $18 million.

“Competitive tendering is about ensuring the best outcomes for bus customers and taxpayers,” Berejiklian says.

The successful tenderers will be announced later this year and start operating services between June and August 2014.

The former government negotiated contract arrangements with the incumbent operators within their service regions.
