Vale: Alan Boyce Denning

Shock has given way to sadness and loss at the passing of bus industry legend Alan Boyce Denning

By David Goeldner | February 1, 2013

Regarded as one of Australia’s most notable bus builders, Alan Boyce Denning passed away on January 11, 2013, aged 82.

Although Alan Denning retired in 2004, his legacy as a true legend of the Australian bus industry lives on through the name Denning on modern vehicles, still built in Brisbane, and through his son Boyd who now works as an engineer with Bus and Coach International.

Boyd says Alan Denning excelled at everything he did.

“If there was something he wanted but not available yet then he just made it himself,” Boyd says.

“He was always the leader in his working career and the rest of the industry followed.”

Alan Denning is survived by three adult children Boyd, Wade and Lynn, and seven grandchildren – Melissa, Amy, Aaron, Scott, Cody, Ellie and Keira.

“Alan was the best father, and the family never wanted for anything. He always made sure we were safe and well – you could not ask for better,” says Boyd Denning.

“He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.”

A tribute to the life and times of Alan Denning appears in the February issue of ABC magazine.
