November 16, 2012

TransLink will run extra late night buses
during Gold Coast Schoolies Week celebrations
in a bid to keep teens safe.

QueenslandTransport Minister Scott Emerson says public transport is the safest and most affordable option for teens joining the Schoolies celebrations on the Gold Coast.

“Additional buses will service Gold Coast night destinations across the week to cater for the thousands of extra customers expected,” Emerson says.

“Schoolies should use the journey planner on the TransLink website to help plan their transport to and from Schoolies activities,” Emerson says.

Surfside Buslines will deliver the additional services from Friday, November 16 to Friday, November 23.”

TransLink Senior Network Officers, as well as uniformed and plain-clothed police, will regularly patrol buses on the Gold Coast during Schoolies.

Private security guards will also operate roving patrols and all Surfside Bus Lines buses have CCTV coverage and back-to-base radio monitoring.
