Applications for the first round of funding under the Victorian Government’s three-year, $10 million Smarter Resources, Smarter Business program are now open.

Victorian Environment and Climate Change Minister Ryan Smith says medium-sized Victorian businesses can now apply for the funding to help improve resource efficiency.

Smith says the funding will allow businesses with between 20 and 199 employees to purchase equipment to reduce material or energy consumption; undertake energy or materials efficiency assessment; scope feasibility studies, detailed design analysis and business case development; and prepare applications for third party grants relating to resource efficiency.

Smith says there are almost 20,000 medium-sized businesses in Victoria that could be eligible for the funding.

“Helping ensure those businesses are working as efficiently as possible, and increasing their profitability, is a great opportunity for Victoria’s economy,” Smith says.

Smith says the Smarter Resources, Smarter Business program will also provide businesses with information and tips on improving the productivity of resources and materials.

According to the Victorian Government, the grants are open to all medium-sized businesses operating in Victoria.
