The Queensland Government has introduced Go Card visitor information packs on the Sunshine and Gold coasts

October 24, 2012

The
Queensland Government has launched Go Card information packs on the Sunshine and Gold coasts to make public transport easier for visitors.

The packs will include flip-out guides to public transport,
recommendations for things to see and do,
and maps of key destinations and interchanges.

Gold Coast MP John-Paul Langbroek says the initiative allows Go Card customers to
make the most of
the public transport network.

He says included in
each pack
are tips on the new nine-plus free incentive.

“Go Card customers can travel free anywhere on the Translink network for the remainder of the week after completing nine journeys in a Monday to Sunday period,” Langbroek says.

Sunshine Coast MP Jarrod Bleijie says theTranslink initiative will help promote Southeast Queensland’s public transport network to tourists.

“Visitors and irregular travellers can sometimes find public transport daunting as it can be difficult to know which route goes where, or where stops are located,” Bleijie says.

“But that will no longer be a problem because Translink’s journey planner now maps them out using Google Maps.”

Gold Coast MP Rob Molhoek says the initiatives will also encourage visitors to leave their cars at home and to take public transport to visit the coast.

“By making it easier for visitors to access public transport we’re helping to bring visitors back to our beautiful attractions and beaches,” Molhoek says.

Visitors can
get the information packs from
tourism visitor information centres and selected retailers.
