And the winner is…

The new venue for next year’s Australian Bus and Coach Show has been announced, and the winner is…

October 5, 2012

The organisers of the biennial Australian Bus + Coach Show have left the racecourse-based trade exhibition scene and will make the move to Sydney’s Olympic Park precinct.

The bus and coach extravaganza will be held at the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park on September 25-26, 2013.

Principal organiser, BusNSW Executive Director Darryl Mellish, says it was important the show evolved and the moved to the Sydney Showground to give exhibitors and attendees a state-of-the-art facility where all buses and booths can be displayed in one indoor arena.

“Both the local and international players supplying products and services to the industry have an expectation for such events to be held in a high class exhibition centre,” Mellish says.

He says BusNSW has listened to industry suppliers who have advocated for a large indoor facility where bus displays and exhibitor booths can be fully integrated, without spreading or fragmenting the displays.

The show will attract the interest of Australian and international bus and coach operators, government representatives, equipment and service suppliers, tourism and hospitality providers, and bus enthusiasts.

“The exhibition planned for September 2013 promises to raise the bar for bus shows in Australia, and provides an opportunity for the industry to showcase the latest products, services and technology available,” says Mellish.

Home of the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Showground is centrally located in the centre of Sydney and the exhibition will be spread over 12,000m of indoor space.

“The Sydney Showground venue provides a real village atmosphere with a number of hotels, restaurants and bars in close proximity to The Dome, which will be the centrepiece of the show,” Mellish says.

“We are confident the 2013 show will see a record number of vehicles and booths exhibiting a wide range of products and services.

“A number of social functions are planned but the intent is to make this a first class exhibition without competing conference sessions.”

Mellish says he looks forward to hosting the premier event for the Australian bus and coach industry at a time when public transport is a high priority for state and federal governments.

“Bus and coach operators and industry suppliers are encouraged to start planning a trip to Sydney for the Australian Bus and Coach Show in September 2013,” he says.

BusNSW will keep exhibitors, operators and industry participants informed via the official show website www.busshow.com.au.
