Future is now

Now in its seventh year, BusNSW’s Leading Edge seminar is primed to provide a timely glimpse at public transport’s future

June 15, 2012

The future appears to be ‘now’ based on a timely agenda planned for the upcoming BusNSW Leadership seminar at Park Royal Darling Harbour, Sydney, on July 6.

Speaking around the seminar theme ‘Taking Public Transport into the Future’, keynote presenters include Transport for NSW Customer Experience Deputy Director General Tony Braxton-Smith, ITLS Professor Michiel Bliemer and Australian Public Affairs Managing Director Tracey Cain.

BusNSW Executive Director Darryl Mellish says the seminar is designed for up and coming professionals working in public transport, with an emphasis on encouraging fresh ideas and innovative thinking.

“This is a very important event at a time when there is uncertainty around the future contracting of bus service and fleet procurement, in both metropolitan and regional areas,” Mellish says.

Speakers from within and outside the industry will provide insights into current trends and industry reforms, proposing ideas of how the industry can be best placed to meet projected patronage growth.

“We are pleased that experts covering a wide range of topics will share their knowledge with the future of the bus and coach industry,” says Mellish.

“The seminar will finish with an interactive session covering up-to-the-minute operator and supplier issues,” he says.

Following the seminar a cocktail function will give attendees an opportunity to network.
