An assistant transport minister has been commissioned in Queensland

April 12, 2012

Queensland
MP Steve Minnikin has been officially commissioned as assistant transport minister under the new LNP State Government.

Premier Campbell Newman commissioned Minnikin alongside 10 other new assistant ministers at Government House this morning.

Newman says the assistant ministers are all new faces to Parliament.

“The great thing about our team is that we have such a diverse group of people who are rolling up their sleeves to get to work for Queensland families,” Newman says.

“In our list of Assistant Ministers, we’ve got a former NRL referee, an environmental scientist, a medical specialist, a former journalist and three lawyers as well as business managers and owners.

Minnikin will work alongside Transport Minister and former News Limited journalist Scott Emerson.

Minnikin became the member for Chatsworth after defeating Steve Kilburn in a land-slide victory at the 2012 state election.
