Brisbane's Lord Mayor Graham Quirk has vowed to build 360 new buses if re-elected.

Quirk says the buses, which will be built within four years, will allow for the retirement of older buses.

Brisbane City Council has built 500 new buses in the past four years as part of an arrangement made between former Mayor Campbell Newman and former premier Peter Beattie.

Brisbane currently
operates about 1200 buses in its fleet.
