TransLink and local bus operator Thompson Bus Services are ready to roll out northern region bus network changes in southern Queensland from February 27.

TransLink Acting CEO Matt Longland says the changes resulted from earlier community consultation and all improvements would be outlined at upcoming community information sessions.

"There has been a lot of growth in many suburbs throughout the region and we now have the opportunity to grow our services to better meet the travel needs of the local community," Longland says.

"The changes introduce four new bus routes and six newly designed routes, improving the overall frequency and number of services as well as providing more direct connections to key destinations, greater connectivity between suburbs and new services to growing areas of the community," he says.

"For example there are new routes from Warner to Strathpine, and two new Griffin routes; one to Westfield North Lakes and one to Petrie station for train connections."

Longland says he encouraged people to attend the community information sessions to learn how the new services could benefit them.

Public information sessions will be held at:

• Warner Village Shopping Centre (outside Woolworths), Saturday February 11, 10am – 3pm

• Murrumba Downs Shopping Centre (outside Coles), Monday February 13, 10am – 2pm

• Kallangur Library, 1480 Anzac Ave, Kallangur, Wednesday February 15, 10am – 2pm

• Kensington Village Shopping Centre (Bray Park), Friday February 17, 10am – 2pm

• Westfield Strathpine (near Strandbags), Saturday February 10am – 3pm

"There will be improvements for customers currently using buses, and there will be whole communities that can now benefit from the provision of public transport for the first time, so I’d encourage everyone to come along and check out the changes," says Longland.
