Backpack hat trick

Greyhound landed a hat trick of Golden Backpack awards in Sydney recently

November 3, 2011

Greyhound Australia got the nod from 20,000 voters in the Golden Backpack awards held at Sydney’s Dockside on October 27.

The coach operator won the Best Transport Operator category three years running at the awards, holding off competition from Great Southern Rail, Virgin Australia and Jetstar.

More than 400 industry leaders attended the awards ceremony in Sydney.

Greyhound Australian Chief Operating Officer Tony Hopkins congratulated staff on the award win.

“Over the past 12 months Greyhound has continued to expand our services and refine our packages to create the ultimate Australian adventure for young travellers,” Hopkins says.

“From exploring our golden coastline and spectacular surf beaches, to conquering the great Australian outback Greyhound is committed to delivering the best experiential holiday possible.”

Hopkins says the award win is a testament to the dedication and passion of Greyhound’s team of experienced staff.

He says the company was already implementing new ways to further enhance the backpacker travel experience.

“Greyhound’s recent acquisition of Oz Experience further cements our position as a key player in the youth travel market,” Hopkins says.

“We’ll be rolling out even more travel deals to all corners of the country, offering greater flexibility and the opportunity to save through bundling of travel, experiences and attractions.”
