HVA gets into Movember

Melbourne-based King Long bus distributor Heavy Vehicles Australia is getting ‘hairy’ for a cause

Heavy Vehicles Australia is getting ready for ‘moustache season’ with a campaign to raise funds and awareness for the serious issues of prostate cancer and male depression.

HVA Product Planning Manager Lei Hei says she has decided to ‘do her bit’ for men’s health by encouraging people to join the ‘Mo King’ team as part of the Australia-wide Movember movement.

Movember is an annual campaign organised by Beyond Blue and the Prostate Cancer Association of Australia, started in Melbourne in 2003 and grown to a global phenomenon that involved 450,000 participants and raised $72 million in 2010.

Female supporters are encouraged to join the charity drive as ‘Mo Sistas’, a tag which Lei has adopted as her own for November during HVA’s involvement in the campaign.

“The more people I can get to join my team or to donate, the more lives we can impact,” ‘Mo Sista’ Lei says.

“I’m the team captain as Mo Sista, and I am on the hunt for fellow fine and like-minded individuals to join me on my quest by signing up to my team, or people who care about men’s health to donate to my team,” she says.

“Together we can change the face of men’s health.”

Lei says her ‘Mo Bro’ colleagues at HVA have started signing up to the cause, and moustache growing progress will be updated on the company website from November 1 at www.hvagroup.com.au.

“Photos will be updated every week, so please come and check the Movember gallery,” she says.
