Free bus to big gig

The Northern Territory’s young music talent will be on show in Darwin on Friday, and getting to the big gig is easy with free bus travel

April 7, 2011

Territorians heading down to check out The Big Gig at Casuarina Swimming Pool on Friday 8 April will get free bus public transport to and from the gig.

NT Transport Minister Gerry McCarthy says this Friday’s event from 2pm to 8pm is being held as part of National Youth Week.

“The Territory Government is thrilled to be able to provide free bus travel for everyone heading down to the Big Gig,” McCarthy says.

“The free travel extends to kids, parents, carers, anyone heading down to the event – all they need to do is tell the bus driver they are attending the gig and they will get free travel.”

He says the Big Gig is a drug and alcohol free event and will close off National Youth Week celebrations.

We want to help as many kids as possible enjoy the event and have a hassle free day,” says McCarthy.

Entry to the Big Gig is also free.

“I encourage everyone to get along and check out some of the Territory’s finest young bands battle it out to win the performing rights for the Territory Government’s Bass in the Grass.”
