TransLink is set to give up to 120,000 football fans an early win this weekend with pre-purchased ticket holders receiving free public transport to and from three blockbuster games.

The NRL season is set to kick-off in South East Queensland this Friday night with the Brisbane Broncos versus North Queensland Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium, followed by the Gold Coast Titans versus St George Illawarra Dragons on Saturday night at Skilled Park.

The Brisbane Roar will play hosts to the A-League Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Extra buses will operate to replace trains on Sunday afternoon to assist with the large number of fans heading to Brisbane Roar A-League Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium.

TransLink spokesperson Andrew Berkman says pre-paid ticket holders could travel for free on trains and selected buses to and from the games.

"Pre-purchased ticket holders can use their tickets on the day of the game to travel for free on Queensland Rail train services," Berkman says.

"Fans travelling to the Broncos and Roar games can also travel for free to the game on Brisbane Transport buses and free travel is also available on Surfside buses for customers heading to the Titans- Dragons clash."

He says free event shuttle buses will operate to and from all grounds before and after the games.

Shuttle buses for the Broncos and Roar games will depart from stop 45 Adelaide Street and Makerston Street in the City every five minutes, Eight Mile Plains Busway station every 10 minutes, Carindale Interchange (stop H) every 15 minutes, Chermside Interchange (Zone D) every 15 minutes and Waterworks Road at The Gap every 30 minutes.

Event shuttle buses for the Titans game will operate on-demand between Firth Park park ‘n’ ride in Mudgeeraba, Alabaster Drive park ‘n’ ride in Carrara, Burleigh Heads Primary School and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.

Berkman advises footy fans should plan ahead and check www.translink.com.au or call 13 12 30 for service times and updates.
