All aboard for Julia Creek

Greyhound is gearing up for one of Australia’s iconic outback events – April’s Dirt n Dust festival at Julia Creek

February 16, 2011

Greyhound Australia takes to the dusty back roads of Queensland in April, heading west to the Dirt n Dust festival at Julia Creek.

Chief Executive Officer Rob Thomas says Greyhound was proud to support one of the biggest events on the outback calendar with tailored coach services and accommodation packages.

“This is just one way Greyhound Australia is supporting the Queensland tourism industry after the devastation of the recent floods and Cyclone Yasi,” Thomas says.

“The Dirt n Dust Festival is an iconic Queensland event that brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate the true spirit of the Australian outback.”

Thomas says thousands of Australians make the journey to Julia Creek to compete in the Dirt n Dust Festival’s legendary outback triathlon each year, while others go along for the additional attractions, including horse races, bull riding, kids’ rides and live entertainment.

“Festival goers will also have the opportunity to witness one of the outback’s cheekiest competitions when the winner of Australia’s ‘Best Butt’ is announced,” Thomas says.

Greyhound’s ‘Dirt n Dust Experience’ packages include two nights accommodation at Tent City, return coach transfer from Mount Isa or Townsville, entry to major events and other entertainment and coach transfers between event venues.

Thomas says a Greyhound coach was an ideal way to travel to the event as passengers could sit back, relax and forget about the hassle of driving and parking.

“Greyhound passengers can enjoy breathtaking scenic views of the Australian Outback on the drive to Julia Creek.”
