Buses fill the breach

Buses will replace trains on the QR line north of Brisbane this weekend

December 10, 2010

The Caboolture line between Carseldine and Petrie stations will be closed this weekend from the first train tomorrow, Saturday, December 11, until the final train this Sunday.

TransLink spokesman Andrew Berkman says buses would replace all inbound and outbound trains during the closure for all customers between Carseldine and Petrie, stopping at all stations, which are Carseldine, Bald Hills, Strathpine, Bray Park, Lawnton and Petrie.

“Inbound train services will operate from Carseldine station to Brisbane with outbound trains departing from Petrie station during the closure,” Mr Berkman said.

Trains on the Sunshine Coast line will run as normal between Brisbane City stations and Nambour/Gympie North.

Berkman says anyone heading to The Wiggles’ concerts at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and the Queensland Bulls versus Western Australia Warriors Sheffield Shield cricket match at the Gabba across the weekend should plan their journey with these closures in mind.

The reasons for the line closure this weekend includes the resurfacing of Todds Road level crossing at Lawnton, track works at Bray Park and on the Pine River bridge between Lawnton and Petrie and other general maintenance works.
