Community consultation on the extension to Brisbane’s northern busway starts tomorrow, building on the existing project from the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital to Kedron.

Transport Minister Rachel Nolan appears keen to progress the latest Brisbane busway project from Kedron to the northern bay side suburb of Bracken Ridge, servicing Prince Charles Hospital and Westfield Chermside on the proposed route.

"This project is funded through SEQIPP and I'm keen to discuss the busway corridor with the community, get their feedback, and push on with detailed planning," Nolan says.

The section from Windsor to Kedron is currently under construction, and Nolan admits the further extension may have property impacts.

"Planning for the busway corridor now will ensure the land required is identified and protected for our future public transport needs but it will also give residents and property owners greater certainty in planning their future."

Member for Stafford Stirling Hinchliffe says wider community consultation will be carried out at staffed displays at key locations, through feedback forms and submissions, stakeholder briefings and the project website.

"We know thorough community consultation plays an important role in identifying the final busway corridor," Hinchliffe says.

"A community reference group has been set up to support community consultation by identifying key issues, concerns and ideas through communication between the project team and the community," he says.

"Local residents can also provide direct feedback to the project team by visiting the staffed displays that will be held over the coming months."

Hinchliffe says the approach is to combine efforts of the local community and the planning team to develop the most suitable option for connecting Brisbane's northern suburbs.

The first of the community meetings will be held at Chermside Library on Thursday at 1pm.

The community feedback period runs until October 29.
