Ventura gets to uni on time

It might be a short route, but a new Melbourne shuttle service gives uni students more options from rail to classroom

Ventura Bus Lines added a short but well-used Metlink Melbourne shuttle service this week between Box Hill station and Deakin University’s Burwood campus.

Ventura’s Managing Director Andrew Cornwall says the demand for the service meets Deakin’s expansion plans.

He says the Route 768 shuttle service extends the frequency of buses already serviced by Ventura to the campus, including routes 767 and 281 from Box Hill.

The new Deakin University bus route is part of the Victorian Transport Plan’s $500 million commitment to improving local bus services across Melbourne.

The Deakin shuttle is one of several Metlink service improvements planned for outer eastern Melbourne later this month and into August.

Swinburne is a second tertiary institution to benefit from extended services running from Lilydale Station.

An extra 360 trips will run between Lilydale and Swinburne University each week.

Service frequency will increase to run 15 minutes apart at peak times.

Other improvements in Melbourne’s outer east include a one-year trial of a new Olinda to Monbulk route, running every hour between 9am and 3pm weekdays.
