Upgrades to Victoria’s road system is gathering momentum with developments for three major projects announced by the State Government.
Work has begun on the largest of the initiatives, the $2.25 billion M8 Ring Road, after the recent work to improve the 8.5km section of road from the Tullamarine Freeway to Sydney Road recently.
The works include installing an extra lane in both directions, reconfiguring interchanges and ramps and introducing new traffic management initiatives to increase traffic flow for the 22,000 heavy vehicles that use the road each day.

The toll-free Peninsula Link project is also set to get under way after AbiGroup, Bilfinger Berger and The Royal Bank of Scotland were selected as the successful consortium to carry out the work to be completed by 2013.
The link is expected to cut travel time from Carrum Downs to Mount Martha by 40 minutes and includes the construction of 27 kilometres of freeway, 11 local road connections and more than 35 bridges.
