Diesel prices rose by an average of 0.5 cents for the week ending December 11, continuing an upward trend heading

Diesel prices rose by an average of 0.5 cents for the week ending December 11, continuing an upward trend heading towards Christmas.

Terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum shows prices in all states apart from Darwin hovering around the 114.4 cents per litre mark throughout the week.

Diesel in Melbourne as per usual was the cheapest in the country, averaging at a price of 113.9 cents per litre and was closely followed by Brisbane and Sydney which averaged 114.2 cents and 114.3 cents per litre respectively.

Adelaide was not far behind in the standings, averaging 114.5 cents per litre.

As usual Darwin topped the list with an average diesel price of 118.8 cents per litre, 3.7 cents higher than Perth which finished as the second most expensive city for the week at 115.1.
