Diesel prices shoot upwards once more

Diesel prices continue to rise, lurching upwards by 2.7 cents per litre compared to last week, the fourth consecutive rise in as many weeks after an eight week slump in August and September.

Terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum shows prices in all states apart from Darwin hovering around the 114 to 115 cents per litre mark throughout the week.

Diesel in Melbourne as per usual was the cheapest in the country, averaging at a price of 114.5 cents per litre and was closely followed by Brisbane which averaged 114.8 cents.

Sydney and Adelaide were not far behind in the standings, averaging 114.9 and 115.1 cents per litre respectively.

As usual Darwin topped the list with an average diesel price of 119.4 cents per litre, 3.9 cents higher than Perth which finished as the second most expensive city at 115.5 cents a litre.
