Action Buses in Canberra will launch its Rapid Express Direct service, called Redex, with free travel from Monday, November 16.

Action will be trialling the high frequency, limited stop, rapid bus service between Gungahlin Market Place and Kingston Railway Station.

The service will operate every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday.

The trial will continue through until 30 June 2010 (including school holidays, but not the Christmas/New Year period).

The Redex route will travel via Mitchell, Northbourne Avenue, the city, Russell and Barton, and is consistent with one of the key routes identified in the draft Public Transport Network Plan.

Action’s new wheelchair accessible buses will be used for the trial. Customers will be able to use the bike racks on the buses and pay normal bus fares.

To celebrate the start of Redex, Action is offering free travel for the first week on the Redex between 9am and 4:30pm.

The free trial will end Friday, November 20 at 4:30pm.
