A man is due to face court next month after he allegedly threw a bin through a bus window at Sydney’s eastern beaches last night.

About 11.20pm, a 26-year-old Pagewood man standing alongside Arden Street, Coogee allegedly threw a garbage bin onto the street, causing a Government bus to stop in the middle of the road to avoid a collision.

Police will allege the man picked up the garbage bin again and threw it at the front window of the bus, causing it to smash.

The man was arrested a short time later and conveyed to Maroubra Police Station where he was subsequently charged with malicious damage.

He was granted bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on November 11, 2009.

Police believe alcohol to be a contributing factor in the incident and investigations are continuing.
