Police investigations continue after the death of a young boy who was hit by a school bus in the state’s south west on September 11.

At about 4.55pm a small school bus was routinely dropping off children in the Junee area. The male driver let an 11-year-old boy off at a stop on Lysgar Street.

Inquiries into the cause of the collision continue, however, it appears that the boy was running beside the bus before falling under the vehicle.

The boy suffered severe head and chest injuries. The bus driver and a nearby off-duty ambulance paramedic rendered first aid to the boy.

He was taken to Junee Hospital before being transferred to Wagga-Wagga Base Hospital where he later died.

Police attended and a crime scene was established. The bus driver has been interviewed by police. Inquiries into the incident continue.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Anyone who witnessed the collision who has not yet spoken to police is urged to contact Wagga Wagga Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
