Students with special needs workshop – April

The Queensland School Bus Alliance and the School Transport Unit (STU) of Education Queensland will be jointly holding a workshop

The Queensland School Bus Alliance and the School Transport Unit (STU) of Education Queensland will be jointly holding a workshop on transporting students with special needs in Brisbane during the April School Holidays on Tuesday, April 14, 2009.

The Workshop is planned to assist operators of special education services, mainstream operators who carry students with special needs and their drivers.

It is expected that this workshop will benefit a wide range of Queensland school bus operators.

An interactive day has been planned to allow operators to discuss problems being encountered, share ideas and find practical solutions.

The active participation of both experienced operators and relevant Government representatives will provide the opportunity to set a good working direction for the future.

Lorraine Douglas-Smith, QSBA CEO says the positive support and involvement of the STU from Education Queensland will be invaluable in ensuring productive outcomes from the day.

“An extensive effort by this Unit, and Neil McKenzie in particular, over a number of years has provided support for school bus operators in managing behaviour problems and has resulted in a very strong industry/government working relationship,” says Douglas-Smith.

All Queensland school bus operators are invited to participate in the workshop.

Information on the workshop is available from the QSBA Secretariat (telephone 07 3376 3140/ Fax 07 3376 1151/ email: qsba@bigpond.net.au.
