Public transport services in Geraldton have been boosted with the introduction of a twice-daily bus to Drummond Cove.
Public Transport Authority CEO Reece Waldock said today that the new service was introduced to meet the demands of the fast-growing Drummond Cove community.
“The new 701 bus service will operate between Anzac Terrace and Drummond Cove via Chapman Road,” he said.
“With the warmer weather of late, it is a great way for the people of Drummond Cove to travel into the Geraldton town centre, and Geraldton people to reach the waves of Drummond Cove.
“Enabling people who don’t have cars, to move around town for shopping, entertainment, or to visit friends, helps build a stronger sense of community among a growing population.”
Route 701 will operate two return services to Drummond Cove every day except Sunday.
The new service will leave Geraldton at 9.30am and 2.35pm, returning from Drummond Cove at 9.45am and 2.50pm respectively.
The service has been operating on a trial basis since January and will be reviewed in April.
“The decision about whether the service is required will be made after we have seen the level of patronage the trial service attracts.”
The new 701 service is in addition to the two existing school-based services and is run by TransGeraldton – the rebranded Geraldton Bus Service.
