Greyhound Australia is dusting off the running shoes and packing a cold esky as it gets ready for this year’s Dirt and Dust Festival being held from April 3 to 5 in Julia Creek.

The Dirt and Dust Festival will celebrate its 15-year anniversary and Greyhound Australia has thrown added support to the event with tailored coach services and corporate sponsorship.

The social program for this year’s festival will include a special anniversary welcome dinner, a red claw lunch, PBR bull ride and concert from special act ‘Honey’.

Chief Executive Robert Thomas says Greyhound looks forward to the festival every year and is happy to be able to support the North Queensland community.

“The Dirt and Dust Festival has really come into its own over the years with the festival growing to be a major highlight on the region’s social calendar, which now includes an exciting social program based around the triathlon,” he says.

“Greyhound will run services from Mt Isa and Townsville to Julia Creek and this year you can also book to stay in Greyhound’s Tent City.

“We wanted to make the trip for festival goers as easy as possible so we have provided Greyhound’s Tent City facility, where people can hire already erected tents, saving them time and money when they arrive in Julia Creek.”

Passengers can book the special packages online and tickets include the return coach trip, the official welcome dinner, breakfast both days, red claw lunch entrance, admission to the PBR bull ride and concert and tent hire for two nights. To book passengers simply need to visit www.greyhound.com.au and follow the links.

Thomas says Greyhound passengers will also be able to enjoy the luxury of our coaches with full air conditioning to avoid the heat, large panoramic windows to take in the outback views and LCD screens to keep passengers entertained.

“Greyhound is also one of the most environmentally efficient operators in Australia with our Travel Green program giving passengers the option to offset their travel,” he says.

“The Travel Green program supports Kyoto compliant projects that help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.”

Greyhound is now the only national coach company operating in Australia and has been safely transporting people around the country for over 100 years.
