Wollongong will have a new, free, high-frequency shuttle bus service operating from April 2009 along a 14.7km loop of the city.

The CBD Shuttle loop will run from the University to the Hospital, Wollongong Station, CBD, the beach front, Innovation Campus, TAFE and back to the University.

The CBD Shuttle will operate every day of the week, and take 35 minutes to complete the round trip.

Passengers will be able to hop on and off and bus stops along the route, with all services being totally without charge.

The CBD Shuttle will run 7am to 10pm weekdays and 8am to 6pm on the weekends.

Weekday services will operate every 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon peaks, and every 20 minutes in the middle of the day and evenings.

Weekend services will operate every 30 minutes.

The Ministry of Transport is currently working with operators to finalise the details of the service, and further information will be announced closer to the start of service.
