Mark Crosdale will resign from the Transport Workers Union (TWU) at the start of next year, following a similar move by NSW branch secretary Tony Sheldon.
Crosdale will step down from his position as the Newcastle sub-branch secretary and end a 10 year association with the TWU to take an extended holiday with his wife.
Mick Forbes is expected to replace Crosdale, who says he will be pushing strongly for Forbes to assume the secretary role.
“I know that he will continue the strong representation for transport workers and their families into the future,” he says.
In his statement, Crosdale praised outgoing NSW branch secretary Tony Sheldon and the NSW assistant secretary, Wayne Forno.
Forno is tipped to replace Sheldon, who decided to relinquish his role to focus more on national issues.
