Scott Grenda elected as new BIC Chairman

Scott Grenda, CEO of Grenda Corporation, has been appointed the new Chair of the Bus Industry Confederation (BIC), taking over

Scott Grenda, CEO of Grenda Corporation, has been appointed the new Chair of the Bus Industry Confederation (BIC), taking over from long-serving Chairman Stephen Lucas.

Grenda says it is time for a change in leadership for BIC and his appointment fills the succession gap.

“It is a great honor to be given the opportunity, and it is one that I do not take lightly,” Grenda says.

“I am currently willing to make a three-year commitment to the role. After three years, and assuming the Council wishes to retain me of course for that long, I will review my own situation and reassess if I wish to continue in the role, or the Council thinks it is time for a change.

“During this period I look forward to continuing many of the projects that Stephen Lucas and Michael Apps have successfully commenced, and having been active at Council level for several years; I truly believe we are heading in the right direction.”

Grenda says while BIC will continue to strive for positive Federal Government involvement, another area he wishes to pursue regards the bus and coach industry achieving its own identity at the legislative level.

“I believe we are too often caught up in legislation aimed at the trucking industry, to the detriment of our own, the recent driving hours / fatigue management package being a perfect example,” he says.

Grenda says Lucas will still remain an active part of the industry.

“Stephen will not be lost to us,” he says.

“He will continue to represent Bus Vic on the BIC Council, and will be the first of a Past Chairman’s group I intend to establish; to retain the corporate knowledge the he has gained in the position, and to offer me assistance in undertaking specific tasks that require some diplomacy and tact.”
