Brisbane City Council buses will be built at Eagle Farm from next year after Brisbane City Council today announced it will be shifting its bus building facilities from Toowong to a new site based at Eagle Farm.

BCC has provided the $6 million Eagle Farm site as its share of a joint-partner agreement with bus manufacturer Volgren Australia, which will run for 10 years.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman says the site will build 150 buses each year when the facility is completed.

Over the last four years, passenger demand for Council buses has jumped more than 40 percent, from 48 million passengers in 2003/04 to 67 million passengers during the last financial year.
