Queensland Transport proposes to amend the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Standard 2000 to incorporate the definition changes to ensure the current provisions of the Standard are retained.

A draft Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Amendment Standard 2008 (Amendment Standard) was prepared after initial consultation and is now available for comment by all key stakeholders and the community.

The definitions changed in the draft Amendment Standard are:

  • In sections 7(4), 14(2), and 32(1) "scheduled passenger service, long distance scheduled passenger service" was removed and replaced with "general route service, school service".

  • In section 30(1)(a) "scheduled passenger service" was removed and replaced with "general route service or school service".

  • In section 33(1) "scheduled passenger service or a long distance scheduled passenger service" was removed and replaced with "general route service".

  • As well two definitions "long distance scheduled passenger service" and "tourist service" previously located in the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Act 1994 were added to the dictionary.

The Transport Operations (TransLink Transit Authority) Act 2008 amended definitions in the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Act 1994 which had consequential effects on the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Standard 2000.

The draft Amendment Standard is available on Queensland Transport's web site at www.transport.qld.gov.au or by telephoning the Policy and Legislation Unit on 3167 4436.

The Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Standard 2000 is available through the Office of Queensland Parliamentary Counsel web site at www.legislation.qld.gov.au.

All submissions about the draft Amendment Standard must be in writing and received by Wednesday October 1, by either of the mail or e-mail addresses below.
